Feb. 2006 to Feb. 2008 - Senior Writer / SureFire, LLC / Fountain Valley / CA / 92708

The “voice” of SureFire, producer of the world’s finest illumination tools. Strategized, wrote, and oversaw annual catalogs (the best in the business), as well as brochures, web copy, articles, sales sheets, and press releases—for military, law enforcement, and consumer markets. Also wrote and produced video projects for multiple divisions of the company.  

August 2005 to Feb. 2006 - Senior Writer / Experian Consumer Direct / Irvine / CA / 92612

Developed and managed concepts and content for the #1 supplier of online credit reports. Revamped existing websites (created the most successful and profitable web site in the company’s history: www.freecreditreport.com), wrote newsletters, crafted emails, and worked closely with Design to ensure success of all projects under my supervision.

April 2000 to Jan. 2005 - Senior Writer / EarthLink / Pasadena / CA / 91107

     Copywriting: Wrote and oversaw all manner of marketing communications for

     EarthLink’s in-house ad agency. Worked closely with Design, developing ideas,

     and always met deadlines.

     Magazine Writing: Lead writer for EarthLink’s bi-monthly printed member

     magazine, bLink, (circulation four million) and eLink, the company’s monthly

     electronic publication. Pitched and wrote cover stories, celebrity interviews,

     software and product reviews—any project I was assigned.

Freelance writer since 1997, freelance film/video production, substitute teacher, purchasing agent, bartender, house painter, fish monger, and Alaskan commercial fisherman.

EDUCATION

1994 - Art Center College of Design / Pasadena / CA: Earned MFA in Film with an emphasis on screenwriting. Studied all facets of film making; wrote, directed, and produced a 30-minute thesis film.

1989 - School of Visual Concepts / Seattle / WA: Studied advertising and copywriting at this non-accredited school taught by working ad professionals.

1984 - University of Washington / Seattle / WA: Earned BA in Business Administration.

OTHER STUFF

I meet deadlines and collaborate well others. Am an expert skier, a decent surfer, and enjoy photography, wrestling with my Jack Russell, riding my “murdercycle," and, yes, even writing for fun.
